3.4 Overview to Shared Catalogs

A single catalog may share authority files with other catalogs. These other catalogs are typically other libraries under some type of umbrella organization: a library consortium, multiple campuses, or a corporation with many affiliates. The following authorities are shared:
    - MARC bibliographic records and all minor authorities, e.g.,

          o all fixed field authorities such as the leader 06,
             Type of record, a = Language material, etc.

          o  all indicator values, e.g., 650 indicator 2,
             Subject heading system/thesaurus,
             0 = Library of Congress Subject Headings, etc.

          o  all subfield authorities, e.g., 042,
             Authentication Code, subfield a,
             dc = Dublin Core, etc.

    - Name authorities;

    - Subject authorities.

This window specifies which catalogs are shared and their database locations. Documentation for creating additional databases is located elsewhere.
